Mission

The Alaska Women's Environmental Network's (AWEN) mission is to establish and maintain a statewide network of women dedicated to conserving Alaska's natural heritage through outreach, education and public service.

Background

AWEN was established in 1994 and its purpose was to support women in developing their leadership abilities in the conservation field. Today a new generation of women has united to revitalize the Network and to continue the work of the founding members.

AWEN Volunteer Opportunites

Volunteer Positions: All of these positions require attendance at monthly meetings and regular contact with the AWEN board.

1) Website Updater: Periodically update the AWEN website with new pictures and add upcoming events to our Calendar. The ideal person for this position has experience with HTML, Dreamweaver, and a comprehensive knowledge of website design. This position would require approximately 1-3 hours a week depending on amount of information to manage.

2) Listserve Coordinator: manage and periodically send out environmental notices to the AWEN listserve. Brief training provided.

3) Promotional Guru: assist in the development of short descriptions of upcoming events, produce flyers from templates or originals, and notify the press about upcoming events. Brief training provided
